Walt Disney 'A Christmas Carol' stars Jim Carey

From Walt Disney Pictures comes the magical retelling of Charles Dickens' beloved tale, Disney's A CHRISTMAS CAROL, the high-flying, heartwarming adventure for the whole family, starring Jim Carrey. When three ghosts take penny-pinching Scrooge on an eye-opening journey, he discovers the true meaning of Christmas -- but he must act on it before it's too late. Complete with spirited bonus features, this exhilarating and touching Disney classic is destined to be part of your holiday tradition, adding sparkle and heart to all your Christmases yet to come.

Christmas is right around the corner and Disney let's loose with a original story that we've come to know based on the book novel Charles Dickens.

From the start we get that impression that Ebenezer Scrooge is not a happy old man. He has some deep personal issues which hurts his relationships with other people. Ebenezer Scrooge relationship with his Nephew Fred isn't great. Fred always invites Scrooge to spend Christmas with him but Scrooge always refuses, angrily. The back story about Fred is Ebenezer once had a sister named Fran, whom he was quite close to. She ended up marrying and having a son named Fred. Fran died, shortly after Fred's birth. Fred grew up to be a very cheerful man.

On Christmas Eve, "The Ghost of Christmas Past" is a spirit, "The Ghost of Christmas Present", and "The Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come" pay Ebenezer Scrooge a visit while he sleeps. They do a great job of convincing Ebenezer to think about his life and how his actions has or could affect people's lives.

It's pretty outstanding that the characters Scrooge / Ghost of Christmas Past / Scrooge as a Young Boy / Scrooge as a Teenage Boy / Scrooge as a Young Man / Scrooge as a Middle-Aged Man / Ghost of Christmas Present / Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come were all voiced by Jim Carrey. Also other characters like Bob Cratchit / Marley / Tiny Tim were all voiced by Gary Oldman and he did a awesome job.

The Good: The script, voice acting, and lifelike 3D graphics.

The Bad: Could be a bit scary for kids.

Standout Quotes from the Film:

Fred: A Merry Christmas to you, uncle!

Ebenezer Scrooge: Bah! Humbug- What reason have you to be merry? You're poor enough.

Fred: What reason have you to be so dismal? You're rich enough.

Ebenezer Scrooge: BAH! Humbug!

The specific aspects of the Blu-ray:

The Audio and visuals for A Christmas Carol Blu-Ray Disc: The picture quality on this is Video codec: MPEG-4 AVC. Video resolution: 1080p, Aspect ratio: 2.35:1, Original aspect ratio: 2.39:1 and the Audio on this Blu-ray is DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1.

Blu-Ray Extras: As always Disney delivers a lot of bonus material. I started off with the deleted scenes, which I wonder why they deleted them, they were good enough to add onto the film. One scene we see Ebenezer Scrooge as young man with his sister Fran and another scene as a tiny man flying out of a building then landing onto someone's bag.
